RL Entertaining: Breakfast in Bed

Wake up to a spread of good food and sweet nothings—a glorious breakfast in bed indeed

Perhaps you’re already too familiar with the romantic yet trite glow of a candlelight dinner, and are looking for a twist on a weekend date, one that is casual but equally special. Nothing gets more laidback than a breakfast-in-bed date (getup: PJs and tousled hair).

Instead of dramatic candlelight or moody resto lighting, bask in the natural beauty of early to mid-morning sunshine. Here are interesting ideas for throwing a B-in-B date for your significant other.

Perfect Match

In keeping with the relaxed nature of the date, the whole setting should be no-frills. There’s no need to go matchy-matchy with your tableware, and even beddings. Just stick to your color palette of two complementary or analogous colors, and you’re free to mix prints: red-and-white polka dot mug meets yellow-and-white floral cup—why not? This is a great opportunity to use those orphaned pieces collecting dust in your cupboard.

Bring entrees one at a time with the help of a handy tray. A sturdy, roomy, and shallow tray can be used in lieu of the traditional bed tray.

Hearty Tea

These teabag accents are full of love yet utterly simple to make. Snip off the paper portion at the end of each teabag. Cut out two little hearts out of red cartolina, then partially glue them back-to-back. Before you glue the hearts completely, slid the teabag’s string in between the heart’s “lips.” Using a metallic silver gel pen, scribble a short message to your darling.
