If the Color of the Year is any indication, it seems 2019 will be filled with joyful energy and warmth. Pantone made the announcement on social media, naming Living Coral as the winning color next year. According to Pantone’s website, Living Coral “symbolizes our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits.” “With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord,” shares Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

In an article published by Fast Company, Pantone Color Institute vice president Laurie Pressman likens Living Coral with coral reefs. “Just as coral reefs are a source of sustenance and shelter, we see this color giving us assurance and buoyancy in an environment that’s been continuously shifting for 10 years,” she explains. Living Coral is homey, warm, and refreshing—something that we’d definitely love to come home to after a grueling day outside. We can already imagine the captivating décor pieces, furnishings, and accessories in Living Coral lining up the shelves in our favorite stores!

Maintain a neutral-inspired space by incorporating Living Coral through décor and furnishings.

Take your cue from the photo above by opting for blinds, pillows, and tabletop décor with an orange base.

Use it on your doors.

Want to make a lasting impression without painting all your walls? Opt for Living Coral-colored doors instead! If you’re sprucing up the bathroom, you can pair it with a nautical-inspired wallpaper and white subway tiles.

Experiment with prints and patterns.

Not ready to commit just yet? Incorporate it through patterns! Whether you’re shopping for throws or pillow covers, be on the lookout for prints and patterns with an orangey hue.

Make a statement.

Take a bold design move by choosing seating pieces in Living Coral. If you’re choosing a bright-colored sofa, achieve a balanced look by pairing it with neutral-colored pillows.
