RL News: PUP's ENTANGLED Exhibit is Now Open

Keeping the artistry of Philippine textile alive in interior design

A million trends may come and go, but Philippine textile isn't going anywhere. There's something about the unique texture, intricate details, and the world-class workmanship that cannot be replaced by any other fabric.

Fortunately, the students of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) have the same appreciation for the art of weaving. As part of the approved syllabus of the BS Interior Design program of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts, they have launched an Exhibit entitled ENTANGLED: Reliving the Artistry of Philippine Textile in Interiors.

Staged by the Graduating Class of 2016 (17 students), it aims to give first-hand experience of the actual design and construction processes of the signature Filipino textile to fellow students and art enthusiasts. The project is centered on six different commercial interior spaces interlaced with functional concepts.

These designated booths are also named after the different types of weaving such as Pinilian (music lounge),  Siniwsiwan (grillhouse), Piña (tea shop), Hablon (coffee shop), T’nalak (bookstore) and Yakan (nail salon).

The ENTANGLED: Reliving the Artistry of Philippine Textile in Interior Exhibit will run from March 19 to April 18 at the Ayala Fairview Terraces.
