How A Gardening Hobby Turned Into a Passion Project
The couple behind The Green House Project, our Online Store of the Week, explains why they continue pushing to raise awareness of the importance of plants in our lives.
What is a passion project? It’s a venture that excites you, inspires you, and continuously piques your curiosity. It really doesn’t have to have a purpose at first, only for your mere satisfaction. But for The Green House Project, their passion project went on to become a project of purpose.
“It actually started out as a bonding activity with our eldest. Every weekend, we look for something to do together and one of those is gardening. Eventually when family and friends saw our creations they started ordering. So my husband and I thought of turning our hobby into a business and as they say, the rest is history,” Karen Argos says.
They have been doing this since 2013 and get their inspiration from their love of nature, as well as the challenges brought by today's urban setting (the lack of gardening space). “The best thing about what we do is that we are able to create awareness about the importance of plants play in our lives,” she says.
The Green House Project (TGHP) aims to become a household name when it comes to urban gardening. “Within the next 5 years, we hope that TGHP is able to influence each and every household to make plants part of their lives, not just for beautifying their homes but also for a more sustainable environment.”
With this vision in mind, TGHP also sells urban gardening tools so that you can create your own inventive urban gardens at home. They also hold workshops for gardening hobbyists who want to improve their craft, and for homeowners who are just curious and want to start their own urban garden.
