Which Type of Wood is Best for the Home?
Their basic class, which is perfect for beginners, covers woodworking 101, a safety introduction on the proper use of power tools, and pros and cons in using solid wood versus plywood. You also get to practice cutting, planing, assembly, and sanding of wood. Workshop schedule is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on selected dates at either 717 P&S Building, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City (in front of Robinsons Magnolia) or Rich Golden Shower Montessori Center, Antipolo City, Rizal. The fee is at P4,000 per head, which is inclusive of tools and materials, lunch and snacks, and Wood Academy certificate.
If you've already taken the basic class, Wood Academy is also offering an advanced class in making a side table from raw pinewood (P8,000). You get to mill your own rough lumber, apply beeswax for the finish, and learn intermediate techniques like wood legs tapering and bevelled cut joinery. There's also an advanced two-day class in cabinet-making (P8,500).
