5 Things To Look Forward To At Manila FAME 2016
Find the best of furniture, furnishing, and fashion in one exciting event
One of the greatest things about creating and enjoying art is that it's a universal language. Whether you're an amateur painter, renowned sculptor or a humble enthusiast, you're free to understand and interpret it the way you want to.
Manila FAME—the top design and lifestyle event in the Philippines—is the perfect place to do that. Celebrating their 63rd year, they are transforming the World Trade Center into Asia's boutique show for its April 2016 edition. They aim to stage an elegant trade show filled with a wide range of art pieces that will cater to every discriminating taste of buyers from here and abroad.
If you're paying this fantastic design fête a visit, keep your eyes peeled for these five things:
The up and coming artists featured by Red Box
Red Box, in partnership with Manila FAME, continues to develop and create platforms for young creatives to showcase their design ideas and unique aesthetic. For the April 2016 edition, they will be featuring a conceptual display by Joseph Rastrullo and Rachelle Dagñalan under the theme Iridescence. They will also be joined by 2015 Red Box Design Talents Jim Torres and Kit Blancas.
One-of-a-kind fashion and furniture products
This year's exhibit will not fall short of world-class quality furniture and home furnishings, finely selected holiday goodies, and fashion accessories crafted in the Philippines. They are also promoting the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program of the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to boost entrepreneurship and job opportunities around the country.
The exciting pop-up displays from Design Center Philippines
Every year, the Design Center of the Philippines presents a variety of exhibits to be a part of Manila FAME. For 2016, they are pushing a Raw Materials Gallery forward with bamboo and coco coir tiles in focus. Not only that, their homegrown Young Industrial Designers are hosting Design Workshops on handmade paper filigree making and palm frondweaving among others.
The fun and fashion-forward pieces by Manila Wear
Bringing in international icon Josie Natori as curator, the premier branding initiative under Fashion Philippines will be presenting a fresh take on inspiring people's personal style with modern artisanal clothing. Get ready to get your hands on head-turning pieces that can help them with their goal of positioning the fashion industry on a more global setting.
Exploring the Artisans Village and Manila Gusto Gallery
Manila FAME takes protecting, preserving, and promoting arts and crafts very seriously. This year, lifestyle designer PJ Arañador teams up with product specialists Imelda Datul and Rachel Dagñalan to put together a stunning space that celebrates the work of local arts and craftsmen.
