5 Things You Need To Know About Art Fair Philippines 2017

Since its birth in 2013, Art Fair Philippines has become a tradition for art lovers and design enthusiasts. It has been known to be a prime avenue to exhibit and sell classic and modern pieces. 

This year, from February 16 to 19, The Link will once again be transformed into a nondescript space for those who want to discover and learn the best in the Philippine and Southeast Asian art industry. Are you excited, too? Here are a few things to watch for:

There will be 34 local and 12 international participating galleries this year

It’s safe to say that this is the longest roster of artists since 2013 and it includes Paseo Art Gallery, Pinto Art Gallery, ROH Projects, Mabini, Altro Mondo Arté Contemporanea, Edouard Malingue Gallery, Finale Art File, Gajah Gallery Vinyl on Vinyl, West Gallery, XuArtspace, MO_Space, and Nunu Fine Art to name a few. 

They will be launching 10 Days of Art

From the 9th to the 19th of February, there will be a series of events around Makati including special exhibits and tours across museums in the city. There will also be food, drinks and a ton of after parties sponsored by partner establishments like the Museum Cafe, Pappy Bistro, Pablo, Cartel Deli, The Belle and Dragon, 20:20, Finder Keepers, Black Market, XX XX, Bar Mathilde, Bucky’s, Pura Vida, and Z Hostel.

You get to experience a one-of-a-kind dance party

Join the experimental headphone gathering at the Ayala Triangle Gardens for Silent Disco! On the 18th of February, 6 DJs will compete for a chance to battle it out against 9 local DJs and 9 foreign DJs from Japan, Sweden and Hong Kong during the Silent Disco at Malasimbo Music Festival in March.

There will be special screenings of Street by James Nares

Street is a 61-minute slow motion video montage that captures the people of Manhattan, New York as they go on about their lives in the Big Apple. British-born painter and filmmaker James Nares’ world-class masterpiece will play at the Ayala Triangle from February 14 to 19 (12–2pm and 5-9pm daily). 

There will be busker performances for the indie music fans

Love discovering new tunes? There will be surprise busker performances from various talented musicians at the Makati walkways and underpasses happening daily from February 13 to 19 from 12:00nn to 5:00 in the afternoon. 

Art Fair Philippines 2017 is happening on February 16-19 at The Link, Parkway Drive, Ayala Center, Makati City (10:00am-9:00pm).
