Eclectic Asian Style for a 40sqm Home in Quezon City
Hairstylist Bambi Navarro chooses colorful walls, Oriental pieces, and travel finds for his personal space
In 2003, hairstylist Bambi Navarro moved into a standard-issue 40sqm duplex home. However, by the time of our photo shoot, there was no longer anything standard about the house! Bambi wasted no time in personalizing the space with yellow-orange, green, and purple walls and eclectic Asian finds from Cubao, Divisoria, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.

In the living area are vibrant yellow-orange walls and a wooden armoire used as a TV cabinet.
The interesting space is completed with a Sto. Nino statue that Bambi has owned for over 20 years. There are also framed Buddha prints and figures, fresh and faux plants, and a black Chinese drum stool that he bought for only P50!
The homeowner purchased these intricately carved pieces while on vacation in Bangkok and Hong Kong.
Do you also live in a small home? You may want to hang up wall mirrors! Instead of putting up just one piece, you can group identical mirrors together.
For this particular spot, the homeowner adorned the green wall with four mirrors from Divisoria. These mirrors illuminate the area and create the illusion of a bigger space. Since the arrangement looks like a window, it seems like the room is connected to another area.
Another way to spruce up a bland wall is to put up shelves! The homeowner adorned his wall-mounted shelves with affordable ceramic pieces from Dapitan Arcade.
For a unique look, Bambi hired workers to install an araal stone wall that was supposed to be a water feature. However, because they faced plumbing problems, they simply spruced up the surface with house plants!
Bambi replaced the plain doors in the master bedroom with sliding wood-and-glass doors that lead to the master bathroom and walk-in closet.
The master bedroom is completed with a P300 antique lamp and a faux fur bed cover from Saudi Arabia.
Bambi chose ornamental plants like Boston Fern and Sanseveria for his pocket garden.
