The bahay kubo, while having evolved through the years by manifesting itself in different styles, has remained the one of the most practical and quintessential home designs that reflect Filipino heritage and lifestyle. Open and organic, the kubo uses materials that highlight the Philippines’ agricultural roots to create spaces where ventilation is king—which is a must in a tropical country.

As a hat tip to our traditional home, we’re re-featuring three of our favorite bahay kubo­-inpsired houses, that will hopefully give you an idea or two on how to add a Filipino touch to your own spaces.
