Homeowners Yloi and Yeth dreamed of owning a house that was clean and streamlined but still cozy and comfortable enough for their family. They also wanted to fill their home with natural light that would complement their favorite hardwood furniture and details.

Design consultant Grace Moslares rose to the challenge by creating an eclectic Filipino space that has an interesting mix of rustic and luxurious touches.

Living and Dining Areas

What can you do with a house that has an irregular shape? You should consider ordering customized furniture that would better fit your home! You should also think about moving the pieces around to see what would work better for you and your family.

Living Area

To make the living room seem bigger than it really is, Grace chose light shades that would make the area seem open and spacious. The white walls are paired with a taupe-and-white striped armchair and a beige fully upholstered sofa.

In the middle of the space is a customized coffee table with a glass tabletop and molave wood base resting on a black area rug.

A wall used to separate the kitchen from the living and dining areas. However, this made the space seem too small and dark. In order to make the cooking corner seem bright and airy, Grace had the wall torn down. She only retained the gray column with intricate carvings.

She complemented the brand new look of the space with chic gray drawers and cabinets. The wooden table serves as a great place for preparing dishes and enjoying a quick meal.

Kitchen Column

Since the old wall had to be torn down, the remaing column was adorned with ornate cut-out details.

Kitchen Tiles

Instead of the commonly used square tiles, Grace selected unique yellow pieces for the kitchen backsplash.

Master Bedroom

Unlike most multi-storey houses, the master bedroom is located on the ground floor. The area is furnished with a slatted headboard with narra inlays and a bed frame made from gmelina wood.

Instead of the usual work table, Grace chose a built-in wooden ledge to save on space.

Staircase Corner

Looking for a way to maximize your space? Install a floating console table near the staircase or the entrance of the home. You can use this to hold your keys and keep your footwear organized.

Grace's favorite part of the home is the hardwood staircase! The handrail is made from mahogany and all of the steps are made from narra.

The bedroom of Yloi and Yeth's eldest daughter Ayana Bianca is simple yet relaxing. It is furnished with a customized bed and side table.

Family Room

Just like the living area, the family room has a soothing neutral palette. The beige-and-white striped wall is an interesting addition to the personal space.

All of the bathrooms in the home are completed with Émigrés tiles from Wilcon Depot.
