An 800sqm Resort-Style Dream Home in Makati

A home is certainly a place to unwind and relax, and the Ligoneses’ home in Makati City could not be more fitting: A move from the stately neighborhood of Magallanes to a more spacious property closer to the heart of the city allowed Jake and Jennie to discover the design scheme that perfectly reflected their family’s lifestyle and personality. With the help of their architect friend, Joel Muñoz, they settled for a theme that wasn’t just tried and tested for the family’s lifestyle, but was also suited to our climate.

Given the family’s tradition of vacationing in resorts, it only made sense to construct a resort-style haven amidst an urban jungle. “We just love the openness, the landscaping, trees, water features and the relaxed environment,” Jennie says. The actual inspiration of their home’s overall look stemmed from a massive mango tree located within the property. Wooden accents highlight the home’s resort vibe, along with earthy modern touches reminiscent of Zen-inspired spas and the Balinese tropics. The sprawling 800sqm home pays tribute to space and light, with plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows, large openings, high ceilings, subtle dividers, and a carefully thought-out floor plan.
