A Spacious Two-Storey Sanctuary Down South

Take a peek inside this inviting weekend escape

Located south of Manila, the Enriquez weekend home is as spacious as it can get. The structure occupies 1,895sqm and it sits on a lot than spans 2,206sqm—talk about sprawling! Since the house was already built upon the family’s acquisition in March 2015, homeowner and interior designer Irene Enriquez only had to update the Mediterranean design to something more modern, and to make it warm and inviting as well.

Irene worked on the renovations from May to December, the same year they acquired the property, keeping in mind the importance of having free-flowing spaces, a non-cluttered look, and a bright and airy atmosphere. She incorporated all these with the huge windows, generous seating options, well-curated pieces, and open layouts for each of the important spaces of the house, much to the delight of the family.

To keep up with the airy atmosphere, the kitchen features transparent glass cabinet doors. Providing contrast to the all-white theme are wooden cabinets and the backsplash in gray tiles.

Various works of art fill the white walls of this hallway.

The house has seven bedrooms, all with similar designs and layouts. The variations lie in the furniture, furnishings, and fabrics. In this room for instance, an abundance of patterns, coupled with shades of blue, black, and white, fill the space.

This bedroom employs neutrals and minimal accessories, like all the other rooms that were sparsely furnished.

One of the bedrooms features this pendant lamp that brings to mind origami, the Japanese art of paper folding.
