Front Door

The charming Bahay Masigla sign above the front door gives guests a clear idea of what to expect inside this modern tropical house

Living Area

The living room has a high ceiling and plain white walls complemented by framed Filipino artworks. The area is filled with wooden furniture crafted by the family's grandfather, a furniture maker from Pampanga. The old foam has been replaced with thicker cushions covered in affordable cheesecloth or katsa

Living Area

This corner is complemented by an interesting wooden side table topped and surrounded with jars and plants.

Dining Area

The dining area is furnished with two square dining tables made from excess wood originally meant for the lanai. The dining tables are paired with dining chairs patterned after one of the designs of their furniture-maker grandfather.

The dining area wall features one of the  family's favorite artworks: a vibrantly-hued artwork by Joey Herrera!

The kitchen has shelves used to display budget-friendly finds from Quiapo and Divisoria.

In the middle of the space is a dining table painted by Philip Badon and surrounded by traditional wooden chairs and quirky Monobloc chairs.

A rack hanging above the kitchen island is used to store pots and pans. Apart from keeping the place neat and organized, it is also an eye-catching addition to the space.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom has a unique platform bed that seems to float above the wooden floor. The wall behind the bed is adorned with a framed painting by Noel Mahilum

Master Bathroom and Walk-in Closet

The master bathroom and walk-in closet has a lot of storage options for clothes, accessories, and other essentials! To make dressing up and getting ready more comfortable, there is also a wooden daybed in the middle.

The windows and doors are surrounded with neem trees and other plants that repel mosquitoes!

If you are building or renovating your home and you would like a modern tropical look, you may consider installing wooden sliding doors fitted with clear glass!

Sliding doors let the sunlight and breeze in and also allow you to cherish the picturesque view of the great outdoors. In this particular space, the sliding doors lead to an outdoor area furnished with old kiddie beds used as daybeds

Dining Table

The tabletop of the dining table in the lanai is painted by Adrian Morales. The dining table is surrounded by antique dining chairs made by their furniture-maker grandfather.

Guest House

Connected to the main house is a small structure that the homeowners can stay in when they are a little older. The family can also use the space as a place for reading, doing yoga, and getting massages.
