Upon entering this two-storey home shared by restaurateur Portia Baluyut and her mother Stephanie, you'll immediately see that this place is not just a cookie-cutter home. Bright green walls spell cheerful, and every corner is filled with a piece from the mother's treasure trove. "She's been collecting since the '80s, and my dad has always wondered how she'd end up with a new piece each week, hanggang sa she had a bodega na of all these figurines…wrapped in newspaper," says Portia, who owns the restaurant Rustic Mornings.

It is hard not to marvel at this home. Vintage and secondhand furniture mingle with bespoke cabinets, tables, and shelves. Look up, and you will see a ledge containing Stephanie's collection of colored glass bottles, glass jars, and tea pots, to name a few. The same knickknacks can also be found at Rustic Mornings, which is located at the same compound as the house. This impressive collection brings a lot of personality to the house—making it one-of-a-kind.

Living Area

A mid-century-style sofa sits at the center of the living area and is flanked by a vintage accent chair and a table decorated with potted plants. Find a sofa and coffee table with a similar style at Space Encounters, Mezzanine, Padilla Bldg., F. Ortigas Jr. Rd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Potted plants give life to this small corner in the living area. Find small plants at Common Room PH (look for the shelf of The Green House Project PH. You can also find faux, potted plants at AllHome.

Kitchen and Dining Areas

The kitchen, when viewed from the living area, looks like a stage—something that Portia specifically requested, so she can use the space when doing shoots for her cooking show. Mosaic tiles make up the kitchen backsplash, while white, French-door-style cabinets make for charming storage. The celery green legs of the dining table echo the bright green hue seen on the walls.

Aside from the kitchen, this bedroom is Portia's lair. The blue-and-white color scheme exudes a cool, almost-heaven-like feel, making the space perfect for relaxing. "I love it here especially at night. Ever since moving in, I'm just here or in the kitchen," says Portia.

White trimmings framing the windows and ceiling give a stark contrast and help balance out the deep, cobalt blue walls. When following a color scheme composed only of two colors, throw in some patterns that follow the given palette for a playful touch, as seen on the accent pillows on the bed.

This spot in Portia's bedroom can be used for reflecting or for a quiet, me-time. White faux flowers as finishing touches make the area look put-together.

Even the accessories on these shelves follow a blue-and-white palette. A solihiya chair gets an update with a fresh coat of white paint. This spot also makes for a cozy reading nook.

Stephanie's bathroom exudes its own flair. Polka dot tiles deck the walls—a different look from the rest of the house. "Ayoko ng pare-parehas, gusto ko parati may element of surprise," she says. Find a similar polka dot trash bin at Daiso, 6/L Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City.

Home Decor

More accessories dot this pink console on one corner of the house. The small potted flowers and plants mimic those in the painting.

Aside from glass bottles, Stephanie also collects turtle decor pieces. These ceramic turtles form part of her collection.
