A Country-Style Home Filled With Collected Treasures
This home is made charming by secondhand pieces and an assortment of knickknacks
Upon entering this two-storey home shared by restaurateur Portia Baluyut and her mother Stephanie, you'll immediately see that this place is not just a cookie-cutter home. Bright green walls spell cheerful, and every corner is filled with a piece from the mother's treasure trove. "She's been collecting since the '80s, and my dad has always wondered how she'd end up with a new piece each week, hanggang sa she had a bodega na of all these figurines…wrapped in newspaper," says Portia, who owns the restaurant Rustic Mornings.
It is hard not to marvel at this home. Vintage and secondhand furniture mingle with bespoke cabinets, tables, and shelves. Look up, and you will see a ledge containing Stephanie's collection of colored glass bottles, glass jars, and tea pots, to name a few. The same knickknacks can also be found at Rustic Mornings, which is located at the same compound as the house. This impressive collection brings a lot of personality to the house—making it one-of-a-kind.
