Timeless style reigns in Veejay Floresca's 30sqm pad

A limited space in the home should not be seen as a problem but an opportunity to be imaginative and artistic. What the house lacks in floor area can be more than made up for by those willing to think outside the box, like fashion designer Veejay Floresca who worked with interior decorator Elle Uy to furnish and decorate the space.

As the home would serve as a work area as well, Veejay wanted a “masculine” design in a neutral palette for a more classic and professional feel. Elle helped the owner achieve this by choosing a soothing brown and gray color combination and furnishing the space with key pieces upholstered in soft materials.

Living Area

For an interesting focal point, Elle created an accent wall using textured wallpaper applied in a checkerboard pattern. In the living and dining area, the accent wall is complemented by a framed painting from SM Homeworld, a glass-top table, a pair of chairs, and a tufted camel-colored loveseat.

The side table is adorned with a table lamp, books, and a tiny potted plant.

Since the kitchen, dining area and the bedroom can be found in the same area of the 30sqm studio, Elle used sliding panels that can be moved to hide the kitchen which has open shelving for dinnerware and other essentials. She also repainted the laminate on the existing kitchen cabinets to match the rest of the condo unit.

Dining Area to Bedroom

In the 30sqm condo, the living and dining areas share the same space as the sleeping area. To tie the look together, the walls and all of the doors were repainted.

The space uses elements like mirrors on cabinet doors to create more visual depth, open shelving to eliminate cabinet doors that take up space, and carefully chosen accessories to bring life to the little nooks and crannies.

In front of the bed is a gray wall with a built-in table for the flat-screen TV paired with wall-mounted shelves filled with coffee table books alongside décor and candleholders from Mandaue Foam.
