Iza Calzado lives in a house that used to belong to fellow actress Rufa Mae Quinto. With the help of interior designer Anna Leah Hernandez, the home now has a modern eclectic Filipino style.

Located in an exclusive village in Quezon City, this home is filled with wooden furniture, softened with plush fabrics and neutral accent pieces for a luxurious feel. A growing collection of designer pieces makes the home more special.

The plain façade of Iza’s bungalow does not reflect its eclectic interiors. The only element that might give visitors a clue is the bamboo fence.

Living Room

Stepping inside Iza Calzado’s living room will transport you to a Filipino resort-hotel outside the city. It is furnished with an inviting L-shaped couch, a round coffee table with woven base, and several accent pieces. Iza got the beaded throw pillows on the couch from Pearl Farm, a luxury resort in Davao City.

Dining Room

Using wooden furniture with plush accents can result in a relaxing a luxurious vibe. In this dining room, the wooden chairs are all custom made. Four chairs have solid wood backrests and mother-of-pearl details. Complementing the home’s color palette is Kenneth Cobonpue’s Luau lamp, seen on the right. Sandstone tiles and bamboo stalks just outside the dining room, tropical plants, and a pendant lamp complete the dining room’s resort feel.

Liquor Cabinet

Identical picture frames hang above a liquor cabinet. Two planters and warrior figurines flank a wooden sculpture. Iza got the liquor cabinet that doubles as a console table from Designs Ligna, a local furniture company.

The kitchen walls used to be yellow and the cabinets were off-white. To follow the house’s new design, the walls were painted cream and the cabinets were repainted dark brown.

Iza explains that the den reflects her sexy side. The room features an animal print rug and upholstered chairs. A Little People pendant lamp by Kenneth Cobonpue illuminates the space.

Swimming Pool

Huge bamboo trees create a natural canopy over the swimming pool. These trees provide shade and privacy.

In the bedroom, lace curtains and a suede headboard highlight the bed from Johansen Furniture. The bed is matched with a pair of Kai O lamps by Kenneth Cobonpue on Design Ligna side tables. Both sides of the bed also have framed cherry blossom prints because Iza and her late mother have a fondness for this particular flower.

To keep the bedroom clean and clutter-free, the modern pieces are hidden in an entertainment console. The console is unique because of the Maranaw clothes hangers repurposed as door handles.

Lounging Area

The lounging area connected to the master bedroom is a relaxing sight to behold. The nook is made entirely from bamboo and filled with seating cushions and throw pillows.

In order to make the bathroom bigger, it had to be renovated. The old dresser was removed to make room for a spacious lavatory area. The resort-hotel feel of Iza’s home can now be felt in this space because of the warm lights and wooden accents.
