Opulent India

Top the bed with embroidered pillows or a paisley-detail bedspread; add an eye-catching, exotic rug---which can serve as the focal point---and a pouf. Emulate the Indians' love of grand scale by adding statuesque and shapely lamps and vases.

Tip 1: Branches plucked from the garden are inexpensive, last-minute touches that add to the exotic vibe.

Tip 2: Throw in pieces in neutral, solid colors to let your bedroom breathe amidst pattern play.
