Reader Question: What Kind of Tiles Should I Buy for Our Antipolo Home?
Looking for ceramic tiles for your home? Here are great tips on finding the right type
Q: The lot area of our Antipolo home is 65sqm, while the floor area is 42sqm (21sqm each for the first and second floor). My husband and I are trying to figure out how to maximize the space.
We plan to put up cabinets in the kitchen and paint it a light yellow. We have decided to expand the second floor and put a terrace. Our house will be painted in medium blue and light blue. What type and color of ceramic tiles would be right for our house so it will look cozy, relaxing, and inviting?—Natty Cayubit
A: Choosing colors is one of the trickiest phases of home design. Buy five or six different colored tiles at hardware stores. Bring the samples of your chosen tiles home and check out which of these look best with your existing interior colors. Spending a few hundred pesos on tile samples is cheaper than wasting thousands on boxes of tiles that won't work with your color scheme.
Textured ceramic tiles are warmer and cozier than their glazed counterparts and they are also more slip-resistant. Since you're going for a more relaxed atmosphere, the natural look is the best choice. Look for tiles in muted shades of red if you want your home to be accessible and unassuming. You can also go for tiles in green tones if you prefer a cooler and more calming effect.
