Q: We recently moved into an apartment with unfinished walls—marks of cement blocks dot it, making it unsightly. How do we fix it up without spending too much? What color palette do you suggest for our walls and ceilings? —Rai Ricafrente
A:Â Why not turn your wall into a focal point? You can paint it a bright color, like apple green, fuchsia, or purple, and all other walls a dark neutral, like mocha, brown, or gray. That way, it will seem like you left it unfinished on purpose.
Your ceiling can be the same shade as your neutral walls, or lighter. Finish the look with simple wall decor, like a graphic print or black-and-white photos.
