Through extensive construction work, wooden floors from old buildings, and antique wooden furniture, architect Lara Fernandez-Barrios and her husband, JB were able to give their two-storey house a new look. To open up the house and create an illusion of bigger space, a skylight was added for more natural light.

After dreading the typhoon season for years, the owners of this home decided to build their property two meters above street level. With the help of architect Raymond Co, the house now has wide, airy spaces with small gardens throughout the open plan.

The owners of this home faced numerous problems which include: the absence of proper plumbing, pests, and leaks. Design consultant Grace Moslares stepped in to help the owners achieve a safe and cozy dwelling. The Filipiniana-style home showcases sentimental pieces and other unique décor.

Following the design philosophy of landscape designer Rodney Cornejo: “Anything that’s in your backyard, you just have to enhance it,” the owners of this Iligan City property chose to maximize their lush surroundings.

The living and dining areas let plenty of natural light in while from the living space, a wooden deck leads down to a clear stream.
