Working with a design professional can help us achieve our dream space while working within a set budget. If you've recently finalized a deal with your architect, here are three important things to take note of so you can work efficiently:

1. Have an open communication

To have a good working relationship and to make the most of the experience, you should be open about what you need. "A good architect should guide you during the 'getting to know you and your requirements' part of the design process," shares architect Edwin Enriquez.

2. Be honest about your budget

"Good architects should also be able to find the right balance between the budget that you have and the design that you want. It's important to be honest about how much you can spend so you can use the resources wisely," Edwin explains.

3. Be open-minded

Working with a design professional means you can expect honest design advice. Edwin explains that you shouldn't expect your architect to always say 'yes' to everything you want. "Remember, you hired a pro because you trust his or her expertise. So when your architect says 'no' to something you like, don't take it badly. It simply means that he or she is looking after your best interest. At the end of the day, your architect just wants to make sure that you will enjoy living in your new home," Edwin adds.
