Mention gardening and we think of mucking around a picket-fenced backyard, transplanting greens into rustic terracotta pots. But we found a gardening store that caters to both suburban and urban green thumbs, with an overall aesthetic that is modern and sleek, but cozy as well.

Enter Qach Lifestyle and Garden, a new store at Solenad 3 in the bucolic town of Santa Rosa, Laguna. It’s the perfect store for the plant-loving, outdoorsy suburban residents of Laguna and nearby Tagaytay, but the shop has items for the sleek urbanite as well: minimalist modern planters, and giant, sculptural pots big enough for hotel lobbies. The plants for sale are architectural too—there are sprawling palms in almost every corner. There are no tacky garden gnomes here!

You can “Qach” the gardening craze here.

Qach, which opened just last November 12, 2017, is a play on the owners’ surname “Querubin,” and “a play on the verb ‘Catch!’” says their director, Kristine Samala. “It’s an action word that propels you to raise your hands and get ready to grab what has been thrown to you. So we say ‘Qach!’ and invite you to drop that gadget in your hands, open your palms and grab hold of a beautiful potted plant and become a plant parent.”

And you will definitely be inspired to become a plant parent once you step inside the Qach. Every corner and wall of the star is full of live plants, and amidst this green environment are lounging areas, display walls, and tabletops where you can touch the merchandise and sit amongst the greens.

Add a modern-green touch to your home.

Qach is also the exclusive distributor of Capi Europe and Elho (above). “Both are brands in the Netherlands that are known for their beautifully designed, eco-friendly pots, planters, and garden accessories.”

Capi (above photo and below) is known for their sculptural, ultra-lightweight planters that look like they are made out of concrete and stone, while Elho is known for their Scandi-modern planters and accessories in fun colors.

There are other gift items, too.

“We sell plants along with the planters, and we also have our own line of small notebooks, keychains, and canvas bags with designs of Kabalyero, Katmon, Bignay—native plants that we promote and also grow in our nursery in Calamba,” Kristine adds.  Prices run from only P100 for the smallest planter to P30,000 for a gigantic, hotel-size planter.

Qach Lifestyle and Garden is located at Solenad 3, Santa Rosa, Laguna, tel. (049) 258-0543, or follow them on their Facebook page
