How To Water Your Plants Efficiently

Make sure you're not wasting water

It is one thing to water your plants properly, but it's another to water them efficiently. Here are tips to make sure that you're watering your plants without wasting a single drop:

1. Study your garden.

Before working on your landscape, determine which spots abound in sunlight and which ones enjoy runoff water from downspouts and other potential water sources. Based on your observation, you will know which plants to put in which areas. Plants that can thrive even in drought can be placed in areas under the sun, while other plants that need water will be better off near downspouts.

2. Place similar plants together.

Consequently, after studying your garden, you can now determine which plants need to be grouped together. Place plants with similar water needs in moist areas, while those that don't need much water can be placed in sunny spots.

3. Plant trees and shrubs in your garden.

These will shade your plants from excessive heat from the sun, thus cooling your garden and eliminating the need for frequent watering.

4. Use a hose with nozzle when watering your plants.

This is to avoid drowning your plants. If you don't have a hose with nozzle, use a watering can. The important thing to remember is that you should be able to control the amount of water that you're giving to your plants to avoid overwatering them.
