Color Splash

Q: I’m trying to renovate my 42-sqm living room to give it a more spacious feel. What paint color can you suggest that will make the space seem more spacious and complement my wooden furniture? —Ria Pinlac Maslog

A: Color can create visual tricks that will make your space look spacious. The lighter the hue, the bigger your living room will seem. The safe route would be to use a neutral color like ivory white. If you’re the more courageous type of homeowner, go for green! A shade of light green with a tinge of grey is a great color for a modern living area. This cool color will also mix well with natural wood.

Affordable Partition

Q: We currently acquired a condo unit and we want to have a partition constructed. In-house financing is expensive, though, and we are on a tight budget. Is there a company that offers a construct-now-pay-later scheme? Or can you suggest a company with affordable rates?—Arlene Bool

A: It would be wise to splurge on construction since it’s more permanent than furniture or accessories. But I understand how a tight budget can prevent one from doing so. In order to save on construction costs, you should find a contractor that has a lot of experience. They will be more efficient with materials and will get the job done faster. For your construction needs, you can look for Manuel Villarete at 09187110971.

Get on Board

Q: I like the padded headboard in the July issue and I want to have one for our bedroom. Where can we buy a similar one? Or if it’s custom–made, can you suggest a store or company that accepts made-to-order padded headboards?—Rushelle Dizon

A: A padded headboard will definitely add luxury to your bedroom. If you or anyone you know is handy with power tools, you can create your own padded headboard in just a few steps. There are a number of instructional videos on the Internet that will guide you in the process. But if you want your headboard professionally made, you can contact Upcycle Manila at 0917 316 2340
