Then and Now: Heart Evangelista’s Sophisticated Spaces

From a high-rise unit to a charming townhouse in Quezon City, a lot has changed when it comes to the actress' decorating and furnishing style

As we grow older and wiser, there are things that stick with us—a favorite color, a wardrobe staple, and even a pick-me-up treat that can do wonders. However, as they say, the only thing constant in life is change, and I’m sure many of us have new favorites and preferences. The same applies to the home, too. How many of you dreamed about having a futuristic three-storey house? Do you still want something similar today or would you rather come home to a chic, country style apartment?

Since it would be amazing to see how one’s style can change, we thought of revisiting a couple of homes to take note of similarities and differences between spaces. Artist and media personality Heart Evangelista once owned a unit with a view of the Makati skyline before moving into a townhouse in Quezon City. While both homes feature elegant touches, changes in details and furniture choices can be seen.

Living Area

The unit features a Victorian style with neutral colors and hardwood floors and furniture. The living area exudes a classic yet laid-back vibe with touches of white and brown. To keep it organized, a built-in cabinet with shelves and drawers serves as focal point in the space.

Fast forward to Heart’s QC home, the living area flows freely to the dining space. Instead of a sofa that takes up an entire wall, she chose furniture pieces covered in textured fabric coupled with a high back wing chair. Glass table tops also add elegance to the space.

Dining Area

Found a few steps from the living area, the condo’s dining nook features wooden touches and matching chairs. A gilded mirror was added to make the room look bigger than it really is.

A huge leap from the wooden pieces found in the old unit, this dining area now has tufted seats and a bench to accommodate guests.

The biggest difference between the two homes can be seen in the cooking area. In the high-rise unit, the kitchen features a European-inspired style with French cabinets and balusters on the island counter. Every nook was utilized for storage as each holds dinnerware and other essentials.

While the old kitchen seem warm and inviting, the one found in the townhouse is a study in white. The pristine color scheme makes the space look organized and streamlined. The pass through window also allows the owner to interact with guests even while cooking.

To maintain the unit’s European theme, a Victorian four-poster bed serves as the star in the bedroom. The space is often bathed in natural light—thanks to the large windows overlooking the city.

Instead of a four-poster bed, the townhouse bedroom has a tufted bed in a rich brown color. Of course, one wouldn’t miss the painted ceiling featuring clear skies. To make the most of the compact space, furniture were chosen wisely as cream-colored walls help create a spacious feel.

Walk-In Closet

Heart’s old closet may look cramped but we love how she used identical hangers and how the clothes are arranged per type and color. Accessories and other essentials are kept in an island with a glass top to make it easier for her to find what she needs.

In the actress’s new home, the closet looks bigger. The pink and white stripes help make the ceiling look higher as it draw the eyes upward. Instead of an island, the owner chose a table with a glass top where she can place accessory holders and jewelry boxes.
