Add some spook to your home with these budget-friendly tips

Whether it's sprucing up the home with string lights, paper hearts for Valentine's Day, and garlands for Christmas—we all have a penchant for decorating. With Halloween only a few days away, you may want to give your space a quick redo just in time for this fun celebration. You don't need to worry about the budget as we've got ideas that won't cost much. Feel free to recycle, work with what you have, and pick out accessories that are readily available. Work on the following ideas and reward yourself with treats (no tricks!) afterwards.

1. Recycle!

Do you have tiny medicine and perfume bottles gathering dust inside your cabinet? Bring these out and clean each thoroughly. Once dry, decorate it with paper cutouts and labels like poison, blood, and other scary photos. Place these bottles in a tray and display it in the living area for an instant vignette. Complete the look with fake cobwebs and other scary toys you can find in department stores and bookstores.

2. Shop for quirky toys.

Just in time for Halloween, department stores are filled with quirky toys and other unique finds like plastic rodents, bats, and even snakes. Purchase a couple of these scary accessories and place them around your home. Secure them using Blu-Tack.

3. Search for FREE printables.

The Internet is a treasure trove of FREE patterns and drawings. Look for scary drawings and cute pictures you can print out and attach to a popsicle stick. Have the kids color the photos and use it to spruce up the walls. You can also use these printables as masks using a sturdy string.

4. Raid the bookstore for affordable decor must-haves.

The common colors for Halloween are black, white, purple, and orange. Use these colors when choosing materials for your decorating projects. In this part of the home, paper lanters in black and orange were put on display.

Using black craft paper, you can have more bats to liven up a blank wall, too.

5. Create a chic and spooky gallery wall.

Working on your printouts? Using the word application on your computer, print letters spelling out Halloween, Boo!, and Scream—have these framed and put them up on a blank wall.

6. Dress up the dining area.

Turn the dining area into a cozy spot where you can welcome guests and friends. A black-and-white table runner can work well with an orange and black garland. Pair it with vintage candleholders and plastic spiders for a fun and scary vibe.

Complete the Halloween look by decorating with plastic masks and skulls! These are available in bookstores.

7. Don't forget the treats.

Aside from working on the spooktastic design tricks, you should also be ready with sweet treats. Decorate cupcakes and brownies with orange sprinkles. You can also fill a bowl with candies that you can give out to the little ones.
