Since a minimalist space only has a few pieces, it can be easier to clean compared to a home filled with too many accessories and furniture. If you've always wanted to live in a minimalist style home, there are easy ways that can help you transform your space. Let these four tips guide you:

Choose your pieces wisely

Go through every room at home and see which items can be sold, given away to friends and family, or donated to charity. Downsizing your belongings can help you achieve a better home whether you're going for a minimalist look or not.

Have ample storage space

If there are things that you would like to keep, make sure you have enough space where you can store them. “Clutter is the enemy of minimalist spaces,” says Misty Floro, design principal at Morfosis. “Go for built-in cabinets and shelves, decorative boxes or containers, or furniture with built-in storage.” By keeping your things organized, you can easily maintain tidy surroundings.

Opt for texture and finishes instead of colors

Minimalist interiors often stick to monochromatic palettes, usually stark neutrals like white, black, and gray. Liven up these choices by injecting a variety of textures. For example, an all-white bed becomes more interesting with cotton sheets and an embroidered duvet cover. Gray couches may blend in with gray floor tiles, but metal legs add that small surprising detail that makes all the difference.

Aim for repetition

“One decorating tip for minimalist interiors is to repeat, repeat, repeat,” says Misty. “Arrange décor such as vases, wall art, or containers in an equally spaced series to create visual accent.”
