Design inspiration can be found anywhere—from restaurants and shops to books and movies. If you're a movie buff, we're sure that you've considered one of your favorite flicks as a possible design peg for your own home. If you want to create a luxurious and classic vibe at home, The Great Gatsby would be the perfect inspiration.

The story of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan takes place in 20s—with the dashing billionaire throwing parties grab the attention of his lady love. To recreate the look and feel of Gatsby's mansion, you don't need cascading chandeliers and a grand staircase! The right colors and a few elements can help you create a modern take on this classic. Let these tips guide you:

Work with cool jewel tones

Recreate Gatsby's mansion by going for walls in teal blue, a patterned rug in lapis, and dark furniture gilded in gold..

Pair your color choices with metallic pieces

Complete the luxe feel by choose a couple of metallic vases. Avoid creating a stiff vibe by adding in plush pillows and one or two ornate candelabras for a more dramatic appeal.

Keep it practical

Do you normally use candelabras at home? Make the setup friendlier and cozier by choosing candleholders instead of candelabras as table toppers. You can also add a tufted stool to add warmth to the space.
