3 Ways to Achieve the Industrial Style on a Budget

Pull off this modern look without breaking the bank

Budget is always the main concern when it comes to finalizing the the look of your home. If you're considering an edgy and modern style that's within your means, you may want to opt for the industrial style–it's one of the most affordable and DIY-able looks

For this feature, we asked homeowner Fermil Añonuevo and stylist friend Jeiel Deogracias for tips. The duo recently worked on an industrial-style condo and here are some reminders that you can find useful too:

Shop home depots and online stores

Jeiel and Fermil swear by home depots for most of their finds and inspirations, but Jeiel also recommends searching the internet for the latest trends and designs. “Kailangan lang siguro, lagi kang nagbabasa. Para pag nakita mo, alam mong okay siya.”

Go for exposed ducting and wiring

One aspect that makes Industrial style an affordable look is the fact that you save on boxed-up ceilings and walls, since you can leave electric wiring, ducting, and plumbing exposed. Just make sure that these exposed portions are clean and well-maintained, or you can spray paint them white, black, or metallic silver.

Try to upcycle

To maintain that gritty, banged-up quality look, try to mix secondhand or recycled pieces with your new furniture. “As much as possible, ginagamit ko kung anong meron na ako. Ayoko nang bumili kasi nagui-guilty ako pag bumibili pa ako,” says Jeiel.
