Achieve An Elegant Tablescape For Less Than P500

As we say hello to December, we can’t deny that we’re fast approaching weeks of parties and reunions. Aside from keeping track of your commitments and the food you eat, you may also want to plan how you’ll style your dining table for an unforgettable feast.

Whether you’re hosting a get-together with friends or you’re in charge of the clan’s Noche Buena, an elegant setup can help set the mood and draw attention to the dining area. No need to worry about spending a lot, you can still allocate most of your budget for food and drinks as we’ve got ideas that cost P500 or less:

Pick a palette.


You can take inspiration from still-life paintings with rich colors. When setting up your table for an event, work with deep colors like emerald, teal, and deep purples. These colors speak of class and elegance.

Use random beautiful objects as accessories.

To match the color palette, spruce up the table with a couple of hardbound books, lemon peelings, and a vintage candelabra as your centerpiece. You may also place a bowl of fruits in a corner.

With your chosen colors as inspiration, pick light- to medium-weight fabrics such as cotton blend or linen to create a lovely draping effect. Don’t just place the linen over the table. Work on having waves and folds as these catch light and shadows which in turn add texture to the setting.

Showcase polished dinnerware.

Don’t settle for ordinary plates and dinnerware. Check your cabinets for heirloom pieces you can use. You can also shop for gold and silver platters that you can put at the center of the table.

Don’t neglect lighting.

Finish the look with blooms.

Roses can add drama and a refreshing touch to your setup. Don’t hesitate to use faux ones or market-bought roses to complete the look of your dining area.
