We all want a home that suits the needs of our family. As much as possible, if our budget allows, we allot a portion of our hard-earned money to buy simple décor pieces or affordable furniture just to update the look of our house.

Last March, we featured seven inspiring makeovers that gave us a couple of great ideas for our own homes. Remember, a new look doesn’t necessarily mean spending much.

To transform the plain and dull bedroom, interior designer Hannah Acab-Faustino worked with soft pastel shades, bright accent colors, and a combination of patterns. Since the owner used to work Mondays to Fridays, the space simply served as a place to sleep in but after the makeover, it has become a private sanctuary where she can spend some quality time and relax.

This three-storey home showcases bare cement walls and rustic Pinoy pieces. Though the owners are already content with the style of their home, there are still areas that needed improvement – such as the bedroom of their two young boys. It only has mattresses and some old pieces that no longer function well. With the help of interior designer Anais Silvestre the space was transformed into a better place for studying, playing, and sleeping.

The living area in this home used to have bright green walls with the TV blocking natural light from the windows. Interior designer John Vigilia and his team addressed the challenge by opting for more visually appealing colors. The bright green wall was repainted white while the largest wall in the area was painted in mustard yellow to create an accent wall.

Built 30 years ago, this house has never been renovated or updated. The living room was crowded with furniture, appliances, and other things which the family accumulated through the years. Interior designer Kimi Manuel focused on the living area as this space welcomes guests and friends. After devoting six days on the renovation, the space now has a bright and refreshing look. Kimi changed the curtains as well as updated some of the pieces.

Owner Kemp Pe has slept in the same disorganized bedroom for over 13 years. With the help of interior designer Hannah Acab-Faustino, she was able to turn the dark space into something even more functional. Aside from adding lights and replacing some of the furniture, the entire space was personalized with the addition of customized details and an entertainment corner.

With the help of interior designer Grace Moslares the living, dining, and kitchen areas of this family home were improved. With P100,000 to work with, she painted walls, replaced furniture, and changed the lights, to name a few.

This house was rented out to five families in the span of twenty years. When the original owners got the house back, it was almost in ruins. To breathe new life into the home, interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo collaborated with another designer. The duo worked on the makeover for two weeks. They also chose a Tiffany blue and yellow palette and added important furniture and décor, too.
