5 Ways To Utilize Corners

Turn these into stylish and functional spots

An unused corner in any room is a waste of space, especially in a condo unit where every square meter counts. Put these corners into good use. Here are some tips:

1. Create a mini garden.

Stylist and entrepreneur Beam Mariano created her own on top of a chest of drawers. Do the same by putting your plants in quaint pots and planters. You can even make your own containers for herbs and succulents using old mugs and bowls.

You can get ideas or buy succulents at Smarty PlantsPH and The Greenhouse Project.

2. Turn it into a storage spot.

Kat Manalo Erro, owner of Katre, placed a slim chest of drawers in this corner in the master bedroom. The vignette on top of the drawers makes for stylish, feminine decor in the room.

3. Make your own vanity area.

Place a chair, a desk or dresser, and a mirror. Your vanity area doesn’t have to be big—a slim desk is enough as long there is enough space for your makeup and beauty products. Make this corner interesting by using a sunburst mirror or a mirror with a unique frame, like this wood-framed round mirror.

4. Turn an awkward niche into shelves.

Interior designer Leatrice Lu did just that in this condo unit—she had slim shelves created to fit in the niche. Decals for Mesh Decorative Decals spruce up the shelves.

5. Allot this corner for things you love.

This corner in entrepreneur Beam Mariano’s studio unit is devoted to her craft materials and beloved fabrics. Perched on a chair, these things also double as decor that adds personality to the condo unit.
