5 Ways To Bring Summer Into Your Home

You don't need to go far to get some fun in the sun

Summer is finally here, and like always, everyone is already packing for a trip to the beach or buying a plane ticket to escape the sweltering heat. If you aren't part of the population that is scrambling to get outside, there's no need to worry—you can still enjoy this season even when you're staying indoors. With a few bright colors and charming accent pieces, your home can feel a lot like summer. Here are some ideas you can try:

1. Decorate with flowers—fresh or otherwise.

While live blooms still make the best option for livening up the home, it comes with a lot of commitment. Inexpensive faux-flowers, even the ones you can get at the supermarket, can work the same magic without the maintenance.

2. Use your travel souvenirs as accent pieces.

Summer is the perfect time to fuel your wanderlust. Be inspired to save up for a grand vacation by putting your favorite trinkets on display—you can put one on your nightstand or go all out by setting up a mini vingette using your collection.

3. Change your bedding.

Now that the cold and breezy months are over, it's time to put the comforters and fuzzy blankets back in storage. Switch to lighter, more breathable cotton or linen sheets for a more comfortable slumber.

4. Leave the windows open.

Welcome the sun into your home by letting some rays in through the windows. Aside from making your home brighter, it keeps your space from getting stuffy which usually comes with hot days.

5. Play up the patterns.

Summer is a great time to bust out the florals, plaids and houndstooth accessories as these go well with the happy mood this season brings. Don't be afraid to mix and match for an eclectic display, too.
