5 Decorating Tips for Multipurpose Condo Units
Heed these practical ideas so you can make the most of your double-duty spaces
Does your space do more than just give you a home? You are not alone. Other homeowners have done it, too. Check out their mixed-use spaces to have an idea on how you can deal with yours:
1. Create the right atmosphere.
This condo unit owned by a marketing manager serves not as his home but as a bar that accommodates his friends. Interior designer Wilmer Lopez created a space for this purpose by using cove lighting and dim spaces that resemble a bar. The bar counter with bar stools serves as the main entertaining area, while a living area adds cozy seating.
2. Showcase what you do.
Fashion designer Ryan Madamba did this by putting two mannequins wearing his creations at his condo unit’s receiving area. Neutral colors put the limelight on his dresses while making the space classy.
3. Cordon off private spaces.
In fashion designer Phio Enaje’s condo unit-cum-atelier, a curtain conceals the bathroom as well as the fitting room. Comfy seating pieces also abound for his clients to sit on while waiting.
4. Create a mixed-use space that looks professional.
If space permits, allot a separate office where you can entertain your clients, just like what fashion designer Frederick Peralta did. His home office is peppered with Filipino elements that show his personal style. He also placed a round platform on one corner of the room where his clients can fit their dresses in front of a mirror.
5. Create a look that appeals to everyone.
Ryan Madamba may have chosen a slipcover with a skirt for this sitting area, but the gray-and-white color palette makes for a gender-neutral space. Even the accessories on the table can be appreciated by anyone.
