5 Things to Love About Cristine Reyes’s Two-Storey Home in the South

From an inviting living area to a quaint nook in the balcony, this house holds a lot of surprises

When it comes to building our dream homes, we’d love to be involved every step of the way—from choosing the materials, finalizing the floor plan, and reviewing color swatches—we want to make sure it’s how we want it to be, down to the tiniest details.

This is exactly what Cristine Reyes went through for her tranquil two-storey home. The actress was very hands-on during the three-month renovation period and with the help of an interior designer friend, she was able to achieve a house that exudes a classy and inviting vibe that one can be proud of. If you’re currently working on your own dream home, here are five things that we loved best about this space and how you can accomplish something similar:

The cozy living area

To maximize the space and make it perfect for get-togethers and relaxing afternoons, Cristine chose an oversized sectional sofa and furnishings in neutral tones. Aside from these must-haves, we especially loved the big mirror that serves as the area's focal point.

RL Tip: Create a similar feel by playing around with neutral hues and soft furnishings in cream, gray, and white. These picks can give your living area a comfy appeal without making it look cramped. To serve as the main accent in your living area, you can work with a bold piece of artwork or create a gallery wall of family photos.

The serene bedroom

Aside from the chic pieces and well-selected accessories, the patterned cream, gray, and lavender wallpaper also complete the look of Cristine's bedroom. The walls, furnishings, and decor all come together to create a sophisticated yet homey feel.

RL Tip: How can you liven up the walls in your bedroom? Aside from choosing a patterned wallpaper, you can also paint an accent wall or experiment with feature walls. Feature walls seem more lively and can add character to a space.

The snug balcony nook

Each of us has a favorite spot at home where we can reflect and meditate. In Cristine's case, she loves to spend a few precious minutes admiring the view of the garden while sitting on the balcony. Instead of the usual metal railings, this mini outdoor area features ivy-covered panels that give it a whimsical vibe.

RL Tip: Got your own balcony to style? Turn it into a dining nook, a makeshift library, or even as a mini oasis with your favorite blooms, herbs, and succulents.

The touches of red in the bathroom

While some would prefer a sleek bathroom in muted colors, Cristine chose a white and red combo for her private space. The pops of red and the mosaic tiles by the shower area seem to wake up the senses and prep the owner for another long day.

RL Tip: Aside from choosing a spa-like feel for the bathroom, you can also experiment and have fun with playful hues. A lively and vibrant T&B can inject life and character into your home. Consider colors like blue, orange, and even hints of pink!

The lime green wall in the dining area

To keep the space from being too plain, the actress chose to have a lime green accent wall in the dining area. The color choice works well with the classic decor and accessories as well as serves as the perfect background for the plants added.

RL Tip: To update the look of your dining area, you can also work on simple upgrades such as changing the table runner, adding a charming centerpiece, or investing in a new lighting fixture. You can also update your dinnerware.
