Many homeowners choose shades of blue for the home because of its soothing effect. When paired with white and neutrals, it can instantly create a bright and airy feel for your space.

However, aside from the usual tones of blue that we see in different homes, there are still other ways to make use of this versatile color. Improve your home's ambiance and feel free to experiment with these tips from interior designer and Real Living's assistant style editor Tala Singson as your guide:

Perfect for both classic and contemporary interiors, this subtle and and pseudo-neutral shade is soothing and comforting. "It is best paired with white trimmings and wainscoting," Tala suggests. You can use this color when repainting your bedroom or lounge area.

Sky blue

"This cool hue exudes a coastal vibe and is ideal for rooms with a resort feel," Tala explains. Have fun with colors by pairing it with touches of white, beige, and yellow.

Robin's egg blue/Turquoise

A bit warmer than the other shades of blue, Robin's egg blue/turquoise can be a good choice if you're working on a glam and retro-inspired home. "Robin's egg is more feminine and is best paired with touches of gold and yellow," the designer says.

Navy blue

This color may be a bit darker compared to the other shades of blue we've mentioned so far but navy blue can help you achieve a space that's sophisticated, elegant, and modern. Aside from using it with white, Tala also suggests pairing it with copper tones.

Deep teal

A moody and eclectic color, deep teal works well with magenta and orange. If you're not into deep colors, you can tone down deep teal with leather and wood.
