5 Ideas For Homes Without A Dining Area

No space for a set of chairs and tables? No problem!

Nowadays, with the rise of small space homes, it has almost become a privilege to have a proper dining area. Having no place to sit and enjoy a hearty meal leads most homeowners to grabbing a bite outside instead of hanging out at home.

The solution? Creating the look and feel of a dining area in a different part of the home. A little space planning, rearranging and styling are all you need to do. Say goodbye to eating on your couch (or worse, your bed) with these ideas:

Everyone knows that the key to successfully styling a compact home is making the most of every inch of space. If you've got an empty and awkward corner in your home, put it to good use by turning it into a breakfast nook. You can even install drawers on the built-in benches for extra storage.

If there is no room for any kind of furniture at all, channel your inner child and eat on the floor. Throw in a few comfy pillows so sitting down would be just as comfortable if you were seated at a long table.

A breakfast bar by the window works in any type of home. It'll be a good idea to set it up by the window, too—seeing the view outside tricks the eye into thinking that the space is more open than it actually is.

Bring the outdoors inside by using patio furniture as an alternative to a traditional dining set. It's much smaller and more compact, but it can fit just as much people as a larger one can. Try working with mismatched chairs for a shabby chic look.

If you enjoy having guests over and you need more space for seating, consider unifying your living and dining areas. Instead of a center table, use a custom-made dining table and add extra chairs for an efficient setup.
