Reuse old furniture pieces.

Dig up old furniture and accessories from around your house or your bodega, like an old table and various catchalls, and mix them with brand new pieces for your home office. Tie the whole look together by using key colors.

Don’t forget comfort.

Define your workplace and add comfort at the same time with an area rug that will let you kick off your shoes and let your feet sink into its soft piling.

Liven up your corkboard.

Liven up an otherwise boring corkboard by simply adding some fabric. Wrap strips of fabric around the corkboard and fasten them onto the back with double-sided tape.  Don’t use a glue gun so you can still change the fabric when you feel the need for something new.

Use colored sheets of paper instead of glass tabletops.

Line your table with colored sheets of paper.  This lets you jot down notes quickly and easily.  And when you run out of space to write on, you simply pull out the top sheet!

Recycle everyday home items.

Keep things in order by giving a new function to everyday home items. Wide glass vases can be lined up on your desk to hold papers and mail in clear view.  Old condiment, sauce, or baby food bottles can be used to hold small office supplies like paper clips, pushpins, and staples.
