Some people say styling your space and your outfits are no different. When you really think about it, it's true—both are visual, personal, and require a certain level of creativity. If you think you're having difficulty sprucing up your home, it's time to get inspiration from your wardrobe. Jump at the chance for self-expression with these tips:

1. Select the color palette.

Take a step back, look at your wardrobe and see which colors you have a lot of. Chances are, this is the scheme you lean towards and you would enjoy seeing it around your home, too.

2. Edit.

Coco Chanel says,“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.” The same goes for your décor—make sure to go easy on the accessories for a space that doesn’t look overdone.

3. Think about the composition.

Don't just throw random pieces into a space. Attention to detail is very important when it comes to styling—layer the pieces by height for a balanced look.

4. Don't be afraid to go with your gut.

If you gravitate toward a certain piece, don't think twice about going for it—even if other people don't like it. The most important thing is that you feel good about it, after all, it is your space.

5. Highlight your favorite parts.

When decorating your space, draw attention to your favorite corners and conceal the least attractive parts. Keep things fresh by moving things around every now and then.
