5 Decorating Ideas to Steal from KC Concepcion’s Condo in Taguig

Check out some of the things we loved in her space and how you can create a similar look

Whether it’s a cozy rustic home or a vintage-industrial haven—we all have dream spaces that we hope to achieve in this lifetime. After all, it’s our goal to come home to a place that’s truly ours—a special space that reflects our personality and passions in life.

For Mega daughter KC Concepcion, her dream pad is a three-bedroom unit in Bonifacio Global City filled with lovely finds from her travels and antique shops, and inherited pieces from her grandmother. Discover more about this condo home and learn a few ideas that you can apply in your own house, too:

Use art to liven up walls

KC's foyer showcases a variety of artworks—one of which is a masterpiece by National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera. It also highlights a couple of pieces that KC's grandmother gave to her.

RL Tip: Aside from hanging a piece of art, you can also print out a photo of a landscape or blow up a photo of the family to serve as the focal point in your entryway. As an option, you can also set up a vignette of framed family photographs, a vase of flowers, and mini accessories that follow a certain theme.

Separate areas in a compact home using curtains and drapes

To make her home seem more spacious, KC chose to have the walls knocked down—hence the open living and dining areas. This also paved the way for an efficient layout, making the unit seem bigger and airy. From the foyer and living area, the owner can proceed to her home office with sliding doors and drapes for privacy.

RL Tip: If your home also has an open layout, you can take your cue from KC's home office. You may choose to have sliding doors to separate one area from anothe or invest in beautiful yet sturdy wooden dividers. If these aren't feasible, you can always experiment with sheer curtains, shelves, and a couple of DIY projects.

Consider bold colors for your kitchen

We're used to seeing bright and clean kitchens with pops of color here and there, but how often do you see cooking corners with darker shades? KC's kitchen features a red, black, and white color scheme which is far from the neutral and subdued tones in the living and dining areas.

RL Tip: You don't need to paint your kitchen in bold shades ASAP. Update the look of your cooking area by adding tools and utensils in fun colors. Score a couple of finds when you visit Daiso Japan and Roy & Biv. If you are ready to invest in top-of-the-line appliances, reward yourself with a new refrigerator, toaster, or electric mixer in solid colors.

Turn a wall into a trusty storage solution

Given KC's numerous accessories and essentials, tons of storage options are needed to keep her space spic-and-span. In her walk-in closet, one wall was turned into a wall of hats, jewelry, and wigs—thanks to a bunch of wooden rods.

RL Tip: How can you best maximize vertical space at home? Aside from working with hooks and rods, you can also install wall-mounted shelves and cubby storage to keep clothes and bags in place.

Inject an unexpected touch in the bathroom

Adding texture to the powder room dominated by warm shades is the abaca wallpaper. This completes the tropical feel of the private space.

RL Tip: While you can also experiment with wallpaper, you may want to start transforming your bathroom with simple upgrades. Aside from a tropical-oasis theme, you can also achieve a vintage-inspired or an industrial style T&B with well-curated accessories, storage pieces, and decor.
