5 Decor Suggestions for Small Spaces

Nobody will even notice your limited floor area!

Designers and homeowners always try to come up with various tricks when dealing with small spaces. Using double-duty furniture pieces and a light color palette are the usual tips dished out. But aside from making your small spaces functional and efficient, you can also make them more interesting with stylish and dramatic decor. Here are some suggestions:

1. Use natural materials on the walls.

Ditch the conventional wallpapered or brightly painted accent wall. Make a statement using natural materials, like this wall made of slate, araal, and woodstones in a 60sqm condo unit designed by interior designer Frenjick Quesada.

2. Draw attention to your personal collection.

Who will pay attention to how small your space is if you have a well-curated mix of knickknacks displayed on the wall? Place your collection on slim glass shelves and let your guests ask you about the stories behind each piece.

3. Enhance a small space with bold prints.

Keep your small space from looking basic and plain by peppering it with funky details. This small bathroom doesn’t look boring at all, thanks to the Pop Art-inspired shower curtain and lemon yellow walls. The rest of this 30sqm condo unit designed by interior designer Wilmer Lopez is also dressed up in bright colors.

4. Add moody lighting.

One of the advantages of having a small space is it feels cozy and intimate. Highlight this vibe by adding warm lighting coming from visually interesting lighting fixtures.

5. Experiment with textures.

Textures can spice up a space just as well as accessories. Take a cue from this bathroom—it may look simple, but the slate gray tiles and an earthy ceramic sink by Lanelle Abueva-Fernando need no further enhancing.
