5 Charming Contemporary Homes

Sleek and sophisticated, the contemporary style has been chosen by many. If you’re considering this style for your space, here are five homes that may just inspire you

Simple with flexible, open spaces – contemporary homes are functional and comfortable. To differentiate it from traditional spaces, these homes highlight the use of bold colors, patterns, and shapes.

Build a home with a distinct contemporary style and take inspiration from these well-designed spaces.

An Out-of-the-Box Residence

From the outside, this house will immediately catch anyone’s attention. Unlike other homes, it has a box-like structure without the usual roof. The house has wide windows and sliding doors; with interiors highlighting red, black, and white.

Area We Love: The Balcony

Who wouldn’t enjoy some quiet time with a good book in this serene part of the house when the sun is out and shining? Sliding doors open up from the bedroom to the balcony. It resembles a makeshift stage – giving one a view of the garden below.

Contrasting Ideas Create a Seamless Starter Home

When the owners acquired this three-storey townhouse, it was gloomy and old – filled with dark wood and plain white walls. With the help of interior decorator Elle Uy, the space now has a bright and cheerful vibe – complete with colorful, light, and airy elements.

Area We Love: The Living Area

Pops of color from the teal door and yellow custom-made sofa add a playful touch to the space. The framed photos add character to the space while the mirror helps create an illusion of bigger space.

A Chic and Modern Country Style Apartment

With the help of interior designer Macie Lorenzo, the owner of this 144sqm space was able to create a home reminiscent of rural living, complete with a sunny ambiance. Chic white furniture pieces were paired with whitewashed, weathered wood to create a country vibe.

Area We Love: The Closet

While we love the openness of the living area, we can’t help but admire the walk-in closet that’s connected to the bedroom, too. Macie maximized the space by doing away with closet doors. It’s open to the bedroom while sliding doors lead to the bathroom.

A Play of Patterns and Light Colors in a Cavite Home

When the owners of this home found the perfect location for their dream space – away from the hustle and bustle of the city – the next challenge that they had to face was building the house itself. The couple was able to complete their home with the help of interior designer Grace Moslares. Cool and calming colors turned the house into a peaceful sanctuary while the furniture was kept simple.

Area We Love: The Living Area

To make the most of the space, custom-made pieces were added to the living area. Framed photographs, mirrors, a plant, and a lampshade serve as accents to the space. The pops of color provided by the pillows add life to the area.

An Artist’s Gallery-Style Home

The three-storey home owned by acclaimed sculptor Michael Cacnio features masterpieces by National Artists like Arturo Luz, Ang Kiukok, and Jose Joya. Given that the owner wanted a gallery-type house, architect Liza Acedillo came up with a structure with an 8.2 meter-high ceiling, large windows, and stairways that weave in from one floor to the next.

Part of the House that We Love: The Stairway and Its Walkways

The walkways complete the gallery feel of the house. From the living area, one can see the stairs and walkways with walls adorned with works of art. The walkway has a see-through floor made of tempered glass.
