While we spend most of our time in the bedroom, it’s safe to say that the bathroom comes as a close second as the most used area at home. Not only do we do our morning rituals in the T&B, it’s also the space where we can wash away the stress of another day at night.

If you currently have a small bathroom, you can still make it extra relaxing with a few pocket-friendly ideas. From updating the accessories to investing in functional knickknacks, you can achieve a space you’d love to stay in for hours. Get started with these must-dos:

1. Define the shower area with curtains or an enclosure.

Depending on your budget and the size of your bathroom, you may opt to have a shower enclosure or quality curtains to separate the shower area from the rest of the space. If you're the type who loves to update the look of the home every once in a while, a curtain is your best bet as it's affordable and available in different designs, too.

2. Install shelves or a mini cabinet.

If you keep your toiletries and other essentials in the bathroom, it's best to keep them in one spot to avoid clutter. You can install a cabinet above the sink or any blank wall to make use of the vertical space. Aside from cabinets, you can be creative with wall-mounted shelves and baskets as well.

3. Display framed pieces and artwork.

Your bathroom doesn't have to be plain and boring. Be creative and hang works of art, photos, and prints. Just make sure that these aren't near the shower and spots that get wet often.

4. Maximize the walls.

In a small bathroom, it may be challenge to incorporate built-in cabinets and vanity countertops. Achieve a spacious loo with a wall-hung or cantilevered sink. If you're thinking of adding accessories like soap and toothbrush holders, you may also make use of the walls as doing so can help you avoid a cluttered countertop.

5. Consider repainting the T&B.

Got a budget for a home improvement project? An all-white color scheme for the bathroom can create an illusion of a bigger space while helping you achieve a clean and streamlined aesthetic. Give it a fresh coat of paint and don't forget to consult with a professional to make sure you work with the right kind of paint.
