4 Year-end Décor Trends

These brand-new decorative accessories and furniture are easy ways to update your home!

Is your tropical-Asian home looking a bit dated? Are you tired of seeing another rustic brick wall? Perhaps you need a little boost in terms of style. Getting one or two pieces of furniture—or even a few accessories—are enough to update a look. Thankfully, Crate and Barrel Philippines’ new Fall 2016 collection called Modern Classic arrived just in time.

Instead of the expected autumnal colors of orange, green, and brown, this collection features a lot of beautiful darker colors that are more sophisticated, paired with lighter wood and both clean-lined and textural pieces. “The carefully curated assortment for fall is both inspiring and approachable, featuring beautifully designed pieces meant to be enjoyed every day,” says Ram Bucoy, Crate and Barrel’s head of Marketing.

Adding a Modern Classic accessory or two could do wonders for an instant room update. “As Ram mentioned, we are a brand that stands for ‘warm, clean, and current.’ Current meaning updating every season,” says Paula Concepcion, visual merchandiser of Crate and Barrel. “By updating, it doesn’t mean add a lot of new pieces, it’s more of upgrading what you already have.” Here are four trends to look out for in that collection.

A deeper shade of blue. Throughout the decades, blue has been a heritage color for Crate and Barrel. This year, the collection ventures towards deeper shades of blue, in shades ranging from Cerulean to indigo and cobalt, offering a refreshing break from the pale periwinkle of the Serenity blue we’ve been seeing earlier this year.

Cool white and warm wood. Pairing white with wood has been a signature Crate and Barrel look from the beginning. It’s icy and sophisticated and almost Scandinavian, all at the same time. Today it can be pure white or warm white. Oak, pine, maple, walnut, or acacia: combinations that are beautiful, calming and timeless.

“Great Room” style. A Great Room described as a “large room in a residence usually serving several functions (dining, living, family room),” according to Merriam-Webster. It dictates the need for furniture in scale with the grander nature of this living concept: sectional seating and modular storage units define the spaces. Many of us actually have a Great Room (even in condo units) in the form of an open living area, which serves as a dining area, TV room, and kitchen as well.

This Trevor leather chair is a wonderful addition to a Great Room; its ample size can anchor a space, and it could be paired with a reading lamp and occasional table.

Setting the bar at home. The “ber” months usher in many special events and parties, reaching its peak around the Christmas holidays. Crate and Barrel’s new cocktail collection offers many party-ready bar picks such as various drinking and wine glasses, snifters, carafes, and even copper mugs for Moscow Mules.

To see the whole collection, visit the Crate and Barrel stores at SM Aura Premier, SM Makati, and at the Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall.
