4 Mesmerizing Photos Of Monochrome Interiors

Get excited to work with a single hue

We are taught early on to associate certain hues with specific things—blue for boys, pink for girls, red for luck, green is health and yellow to sunshine, to name a few. As we grow older, we learn to mix and match shades to create distinct palettes and come up with a few favorites.

When it comes to decorating, it's pretty obvious that color contributes a lot to the overall look of our home. Those lucky can get it right the first time but endless experimenting can also go badly wrong. If you're undecided about which ones to put together, don't be afraid to go back to the basics.

Here are 4 design pegs of monochromatic rooms to help you choose what suits your home and style best:

Yellow is considered to be one of the happiest colors out there. This warm pigment suggests optimism and light so it's best used in the living area. Be careful when choosing shades that are borderline neon to avoid making the room too bright.

Everyone is always talking about a black and white combo, but all-white never gets enough credit. This color is associated with purity and openness. It's great for halls and entryways as it is said to rid your mind of negativity when you enter your home.

RL Tip: If you decide that you want to switch things up, white is a great base when adding any color over!

Always stressed out? If so, blue is the way to go. As the color of peace and serentiy, it can help bring you a sense of calm whenever you need it. This calming hue also boosts creativity—which is a bonus when you work at home.

Red is an energizing color that has the power to stimulate the appetite and conversation—making it a fantastic choice for the dining area or a lounge. It's also a very bold shade, so remember not to add a lot of statement pieces to keep the space from being tacky.

RL Tip: You can add hints of gray to balance out the strong saturation!
