4 Creative Ways to Use a Bar Cart at Home

There’s more to this must-have than just keeping your favorite drinks organized

We often see it in small homes, holding drinks, extra plates, and other dining must-haves. Bar carts have become a staple in the kitchen and dining areas, but we shouldn’t limit its function at home. There’s so much that you can do and explore when it comes to this versatile piece. You can use it in your mini garden, home office, and even in the bathroom too!

Use it around the house and reap the benefits of these easy ideas:

For your pocket garden

You’ve maximized every inch of balcony space—including the walls, but you still want to add more greens. What can you do? Use a bar cart as one big receptacle for your mini planters. Organize your plants according to type and size to make the most of your cart’s capacity. By transferring some of the plants into the cart, you get to make room for more plants and pots.

In the bedroom or home office

As a fellow bookworm, I understand the struggle of making space for more books, magazines, and other reads. Turn your bar cart into a mobile library that you can easily transfer from one room to another. Pick references and books that you always read and neatly arrange them in the cart. Like a real library, you can fix the books according to genre or author.

If you only have a small home office, you can keep it clean by transferring some of your essentials and files into the cart. Use bookends, file holders, and other bookstore finds to keep important documents in place. Liven it up by adding a vase of faux flowers and other décor pieces.

In the bathroom

Don’t have an extra cabinet or shelf for your toiletries and towels? Place your bar cart in a spot that doesn’t get wet and turn it into a command center for your essentials. Complete the look by adding deodorizers, scented candles, and extra trays, bowls, and jars for your belongings. These picks can help keep your cart organized.

In the foyer / home entrance

Even if you don’t have a foyer at home, you can still create an impact by setting up a vignette on the topmost tier of the bar cart. Work with plants, flowers, and your favorite décor pieces. Don’t forget to add a small tray to hold your keys and loose change.
