Cozy up with colors and lights.
Count on warm greens and yellows to bring out a room’s intimate quality. Warm lighting is a big deal, too. Add pieces in neutral colors to avoid a “murky” outcome.
RL Tip: Create a comfy home office by painting your walls with olive green and pairing it with mustard-colored upholstery.
Show off silhouettes.
Add a long customized shelving unit to instantly heighten the visual appeal in your living room. Wooden pieces like coffee tables and drawers can also contour your warm-colored space.
RL Tip: Add a lamp with a simple shade and a slightly curved wooden base for a sophisticated touch in your living room.
Aim for symmetry.
The cohesive impact brought by contrasting two identical items is hard to miss, especially if done in a repeating pattern. If you have a pair of uniform armchairs set together, try facing another pair of identical chairs with a different style. It doesn’t have to be ‘matchy-matchy,' just make sure they have equal proportions.
Mix and Match
“Use different styles that have an artistic taste to connect it to an overall design," interior designer Katrina Recomite shares. Try combining your old and new furniture to create a unique theme that mirrors your personality.
