3 Photo Pegs For Designing The Ultimate Man Cave

Design a space especially for boys and their toys

Whether it's a tech-equipped garage or a game room where they can spend hours with their PlayStation, every single guy secretly wants their own male retreat at home.

Sure, they have their favorite spots around the house, such as their lounge chair in the living area, but that's usually as far as their space goes. If they had a man cave, they would have a special escape where they can go do their hobbies without worrying about how it will affect the overall house decor.

Give your favorite boys a well-deserved treat and build them one with these tips:

Go with a theme

Whether it's recreating a vintage 1980s diner or a Western pub, working around a theme makes a space more fun and exciting especially if it's a boys' hangout. Scour consignment stores for old posters and brand merchandise to hang up on the walls. You can also consider using beer kegs as bar stools to keep things interesting.

Celebrate their favorite team

Are your boys a fan of the Lakers or Manchester United? Whichever sport they like, deck out the room in their chosen team's gear. This is a simple way to personalize their space by displaying things that make them happy.

Have the floor designed in a court layout or use green carpet to resemble grass in the field. You can also consider using floating shelves to display trophies or framed autographs of their idols.

Keep it "bare"

If you're converting the garage into a man cave, leave unfinished walls open. No need to cover it up with paint as the look of exposed wood, floor, and ceiling makes the room feel welcoming. Instead, decorate the walls with their action figure collection, framed photos, or hunting tools. You can experiment with accent lighting to give your display a more dramatic feel.
