3 Popular Fabric Designs That We Don't Use Often

Incorporate these into your home right away!

Apart from color, prints are the most fun to play around with when decorating our space. No matter the type, it's almost always the first thing a visitor notices.

Something as simple as stripes can make a plain sofa look more interesting, polka dots can make throw pillows look extra girly and the list goes on—proving that patterns can be fun while making a statement. To help you choose which ones to use, we've listed three kinds that don't get enough credit and a little advice to go with each one.

Florals and Fauna

You may think floral upholstery is pretty common as they are ordinarily related to traditional schemes. However, depending on the scale, these types of prints can add a Bohemian vibe to a room when used with vibrant colors and other nature-inspired designs.

Houndstooth (Checks)

The great thing about houndstooth is that you can dress it down to be more subtle or jazz it up to be dramatic—it all depends on the look you want to go for. For something that's not too eye-catching, consider going for a smaller scale. These are great for converting headboards into accent pieces or adding character into plain lounge chairs.

What Works With It: Pastel-colored florals, modern graphics and shades of blue

Also known as lotus and scrall, trellis comes in repetitive straight and curved lines. A pattern as loud as this can usually stand on it's own, so it will look best when used in a more contemporary setting like a modern bath or a minimalist living area.
