Reader Question: How Can I Reduce the Heat Inside My 23sqm Condo?
Discover how to instantly improve air circulation in your small home

Q: My partner and I just moved into a 23sqm condo unit. It only has one window, so it becomes too warm, especially at night. Our only options are to open the door, which we don't like for security and privacy reasons, or to use the air conditioner every night, which is costly. We're not allowed to install a screen door, too. How can we make our unit cooler?—John Paul E. Abellera, Quezon City
A: If air does not circulate properly inside a room, it can make the area seem stuffy or feel warmer than it really is!
Here are a few steps to cool down your space:
- Open your window
- Place a fan on the opposite side. The fan should face the window.
- Place another fan somewhere in the middle. The fan should face up to help the air circulate.
- If you want an even cooler area, place a bowl of ice in front of your fan.
